First, the chip power inductor failure phenomenon

 

When the main fault of the chip power inductor is broken, the coil is burned open or the wire of the coil is too thin to be broken at the pin.

When the chip power inductor in different circuits has an open circuit fault, it will show different fault phenomena.


There are mainly the following situations:

 

1. The coil in the power supply circuit is prone to failure due to too much current. It may be that the power of the filter chip is first heated, and when it is severe, it is burned open. At this time, the voltage output circuit of the power supply will be open, and the fault will be no DC. Voltage output.

2. After the coils in other small signal circuits are open, they generally show no signal output.

3. Some fine-tuning coils may also cause the inductance to change due to the looseness of the magnetic core, so that the circuit where the coil is located cannot work normally, and the loss of the signal is increased or there is no signal output at all.

4. After the coil is wet, the Q value of the coil decreases, and the loss of the signal increases.

 

Second, the fault detection method

 

Since the inductor is a non-polar device detection method is extremely simple, use a multimeter, adjust the ohmic file after zeroing, and clamp the red and black test leads to the PIN pins of the chip power inductor respectively. Since the DC resistance of the chip inductor is small, The measurement results after road measurement and disengagement are quite accurate. If the result of the measurement is infinite value, the chip power inductor is open.

Usually, the resistance of the chip power inductor is only a few ohms or tens of ohms.

 

Third, the solution of the chip power inductor

The solution to the chip power inductor mainly describes the following points:

 

1. If the measuring coil has been opened, visually check whether the appearance of the chip power inductor has any burnt marks. When it is found that there is any sign of burning or deformation, it is not necessary to carry out the next inspection of the chip power inductor and replace it directly.

2. When the appearance inspection chip power inductor has no abnormality, check whether there is wire breakage at the solder joint of the coil. For the chip power inductor that can remove the outer casing, remove the outer casing and check it. On the welding, sometimes, the lead wire is thin and has an insulating varnish. It is difficult to solder, and care must be taken to prevent the lead from being soldered. At this time, the insulating paint on the lead is scraped off and scraped off. Solder the lead on the wire of the paint, then remove the lead, the solder joint is small, can not be soldered or false soldered, be careful not to hurt the insulating paint on other leads.

3. For the chip power inductor with broken core, you can replace one core from the same old chip power inductor. For the chip power inductor with loose core, you can use a new rubber to replace it.

4. After the chip power inductor is damaged, it should be repaired as much as possible, because there are not many accessories for the chip power inductor. For the chip power inductor in the power circuit, the maximum operating current of the new chip power inductor should be less than the original sticker. The working current of the chip power inductor is larger, and the inductance is larger. If it is small, the filtering effect will be affected. The inductance of the chip power inductor in the circuit is relatively strict, and the same type and the same specification are used for replacement.
