Common mode and differential mode inductor circuits


The so-called common mode signal is the two signals of equal size and direction. The so-called differential mode signal is two signals of equal size and opposite direction.



As shown in the figure, the common mode and differential mode inductor circuits are the EMI filters in the AC mains input loop of the switching power supply. In the circuit, L1 and L2 are differential mode inductors, and L3 and L4 are common mode inductors. C1 is the X capacitor and C2 and C3 are the Y capacitors. The circuit inputs 220V AC mains and the output voltage is applied to the rectifier circuit.
