How to deal with high-frequency transformer arc ignition
High-frequency transformers pull arc means that the voltage exceeds the resistance of air to make the air ionized into a conductor. That is to say, an arc is generated. Generally, the arc is bypassed around the insulator and then it is generated along the surface of the insulator. This can cause damage to the insulator. The high temperature of the arc melts the insulator. Or fragmentation. If the switch indicates that the rated short-circuit breaking current is 20 kA, it means that the short-circuit trip contact within the 20 kA contact arc extinguishing heat element is effective, and the operation of the arc extinguishing heat element exceeding this dead-end trip joint is not guaranteed, and an arc will be generated.
Normal high-frequency transformers arc but can still work normally, it is necessary to test ARCING. But if it can not work, then it is necessary to measure HI-POT (may be the coil to the coil short circuit, or coil to the core (Short circuit). Under normal circumstances, both HI-POT and ARCING must be tested in the production process of high-frequency transformers.
The HI-POT test is mainly to test whether the transformer is damaged and whether the transformer can meet the rated voltage requirement. The ARCING test is specifically for arc discharge tests to detect arc discharge anywhere in the transformer. Avoid arc discharge Transformer life is shortened. General high-frequency transformer ARCING test rating is set to 6, which is 5.5mA.
