What is a magnetically shielded chip inductor pad?


We know that the chip inductor uses surface mount technology (SMT) to connect components to the PCB by soldering. The pad refers to the soldering surface that is bonded between the PCB and the chip inductor. It is generally called BASE. The pad is a term used by engineers. The part of the pad that contacts the chip inductor is called the electrode.


The magnetic shielding chip inductor pad is generally made of tin-clad copper material, and has two kinds of conductive surface treatment methods of single-sided matte tin and double-sided matte tin.

Why is the magnetically shielded chip inductor pad particularly important?


If the surface of the pad in the magnetically shielded chip inductor is not sufficiently detailed, the copper surface will be exposed. Once the exposed copper electrode of the inductor pad is extremely difficult to tin, and the conductivity is poor, it is easy to cause false soldering when mounted on the whole board. At this time, the magnetic shield patch will lose its effect.


When the magnetic shield chip inductor is used as a choke, if the pad is damaged, it is easy to cause the current of the whole machine to be too large, so that the circuit is short-circuited, and the circuit is burnt out when it is serious.


The process of the magnetic shielding chip inductor pad directly determines the performance of the product. When purchasing, customers need to consider the production process of the inductor manufacturer.


In addition, the size of the pad determines the size of the inductor package. The size of the pad should be selected according to the size of the pad.
