Even if the ferrite does not cost money, the price of the multi-wrapped 300 lap copper wire far exceeds the price of the silicon steel transformer. Besides, the number of laps has to be increased. Keeping the resistance value constant, the wire diameter must be thickened, the number of turns is larger, the wire is thicker, the window area has to be increased, and the transformer becomes very bulky.
